The Educational Program

The educational program that we apply in Cvetic is a combination of three high-quality programs and is enriched by the workshops.

The basic Step by Step program provides the children the basics for understanding the processes and changes in nature through activities of ‘The nature around us’. It helps children to better know themselves and learn to be well-behaved. Children become aware of themselves, their feelings and needs but also the needs of adults and children in their environment. It develops the skills of nonviolent communication and fosters good relations between children.

Language development is represented in regular activities, with much attention paid to children's maturity and their capabilities. We replaced the classical reproductive learning with acquiring functional knowledge from the earliest period, including learning children’s songs by applying pictorial representation (NTC learning system). In this way learning becomes fun, and the acquired knowledge lasts longer!  
Math activities in our daycare center are based primarily on the development of logical thinking in children. Montessori activities are of great help in achieving this, together with The Mystery Stories (NTC learning system).

NTC learning system is a program created in such a way that, through the cooperation of teachers and parents, it contributes to each child reaching its biological maximum during the developmental period. Dr Ranko Rajović, the author of this program, provides detailed guidance as to how parents and educators can promote the best possible development of each child using specific techniques in working with children. " In pre-school children it is important to include in their daily work the elements that prove to stimulate mental development of children, but also the specific exercises that develop coordination of movements and motor skills, thereby preventing any deficiencies in concentration and attention later in life. It is very important to also develop fast thinking and reasoning (functional knowledge) through which we can follow how talented the children really are." By following these guidelines in daily activities in our daycare center we implemented polygons (physical activities), pictorial representations of songs, mind maps, introduction to the characteristics of different countries (flag, anthem, national costumes), double associations, the mystery stories ... This program puts the central part of the responsibility on the parents, because their role is crucial and is an everyday occurrence. By applying the NTC learning system and working closely with parents we contribute to the best development of each child.

To implement this program, our staff has completed the necessary training and we possess a license for its use.

Drama workshops (Dušica Bojović Certified Seminar) encourage children to enter the imaginary world and thus spontaneously contribute to the development of their personality. As the author herself says: "At this most important step in the development of children's social and personal identity, the dramatic method offers children a unique experience to explore, expand and test their knowledge about the world in a safe, virtually created, playful environment.... Drama is a powerful tool that creates a unique balance between thoughts and feelings, makes learning exciting, challenging and relevant, and above all, through it learning becomes something that they enjoy."

Art workshops (Sonja Jegarski Certified Seminar) are beneficial for children's development, and they have a particularly positive effect on the expression of both gifted, and children with disabilities. In this particular way, through a variety of art techniques, children express their inner world which allows the educators to have a more complex insight into their development.

Montessori program, although of high quality, is in this region relatively unknown and very poorly represented. The main goals of the Montessori method are:

  • Facilitate the development of child's unique personality
  • Help the child to grow into socially and emotionally adjusted, physically strong and happy adult
  • Allow the children to fully develop their intellectual potential.

In addition, the way the child is treated by an adult (parents, teachers, ...), has almost a crucial role in its development.

In our daycare center, as well as in other Montessori preschools, the basis of this method is expressed through a stimulating environment adapted to the child's age in which he or she is free to choose the activities he or she will be involved with. In the learning process, the role of teachers is reduced to assist the child to perfect itself through its own personal effort and hard work.

An extremely important guideline of Montessori program is that the "educator educates by what he is". We teach the children by our own example and the demands that we put on them must be fully consistent with the demands we put on ourselves. In this way the children will feel completely safe and will be able to grow up in a balanced environment and in harmony with nature.

English language is represented through regular activities twice a week. All children aged 3 and older attend English classes. Each of the three age groups follows its own adjusted program. There is a further possibility of attending daily English classes through our program, "English as a mother tongue." This program mirrors the activities children have in the daycare center and makes a parallel between Serbian and English. These classes are fun, creative, and children enjoy them.
